Lame graffiti epidemic hits DC

The other night a friend and I were discussing the latest wave of graffiti tagging that has been surging through our neighborhoods. And we both agree, it is totally lame.

There is no attempt at artistic creativity, and it's even so lazy as to appear only at sidewalk level. The taggers have not attempted anything so bold as to climb a wall or a fence to make their works more prominently visible. Furthermore, there doesn't appear to be any gang-related messages and they don't even use any particularly unique fonts. This is nothing more than pissing on a fire hydrant.

Yes, I am talking about you, "Tragic Magic," "Vader" and "Rob!" You should learn something from Borf. At least he made some effort to be creative. He tagged with snappy phrases and bold images in places that made you say, "how the hell did he get up there?" He didn't slink along the facade of a Chinese take-out restaurant spraying big blocky letters. I mean, when you long for the days of Borf, you know the state of graffiti in your city is very very sad. C'mon, guys! Use some color, make a statement, make a mural. Something! You are only helping to cement DC's reputation as a second-class city. This is the Nation's Capital! Step it up.
